Happy Mother's Day!

So I have complained for many years that Doug isn't romantic. Most of the time during our relationship I have bought my own presents for most occasions. So imagine my surprise when he surprised me with a day at the spa. It was amazing!!!!! I had a complete body 50 min massage. I've never been to a true spa before and never had a massage like this. It was the best tangible gift that has ever been given to me. It was a little uncomfortable at first with the naked-under-the-robe-thing. Plus I was massaged by a male masseuse. It was all worth it in the end though and I enjoyed the treats that they provide in the "relaxation room". Thanks honey for the amazing gift! I loved every minute of it and hope to get to do it again!:)
I want to let all the moms I love out there know THEY ARE TRULY AMAZING! I hope your families treat you great and show you the love that you give to them every day.

A little while back, Dianna asked if I could take some pictures of her family. While getting the lights ready Anna and I decided to grab a couple of shots of Evinn. I love this picture because it really looks like she was posing for the camera. She just happened to turn around and pause long enough for me to click the shutter.

Hello everyone.

Just thought I'd post our Christmas card here too. This idea came to Anna and I a day or two before we did it. we'd been having a hard time deciding what to do with our cards this year and didn't really have any ideas that we liked. we were very close to doing a standard card, so I'm glad we were able to come up with something finally.

there were only two pictures used for the card. one of Evinn and the setting and another of Anna and I. I had the camera on a tripod so the photoshop work was very easy and didn't take very long. all told it probably took about 2 1/2 from start to finish.

This little silver bowl was originally for Doug's photography lighting system. Evinn has taken it though and made it her own! Its so amusing to watch her put it on and crawl around looking like this! Its her favorite thing right now. I think she looks like one of those people that are sure that the aliens are coming to get them and they have to protect their minds so that their thought are kept private. I'm pretty convinced that this is exactly why she wears it all the time. She a crazy one!!

He is such a cute little guy! Apparently he was picking up girls left and right! Can you blame them though he melts my heart every time I see his smile!

Last Chance BBQ!

Well, I have a little bit to catch up on. We haven't been good at keeping you all updated. Sorry!!! We're starting all the way back in September. We have some great friends and we all decided to have a BBQ since we felt that it might be the last of the season. We had a blast!

We had good food and the kids were all over the place laughing and having fun. Evy loved to sit and watch the kids play. We were with our very good friends Eloisa,Greg, Michelle, and Cory.

So sad that summers gone, but looking forward to the Holidays.

War is (Almost) Over

Hey everybody. I think all of you are on my mailing list, so you've probably already seen this. if not, sorry and send me you e-mail so i can make sure to add you.

This is a piece I put together for a photoshop contest. I had a lot of fun doing it and really sharpened my skills in the process.

Almost all of the destruction in the background was done with brushes or manipulation of what was already in the picture of the industrial plant. The sky was added using a picture I took for another project and the beach was just a random pic i had. The texture, rust, tearing, etc. on the "masked man" were a combination of overlayed pictures and brushes. since only a portion of his head was provided, I took a picture of myself to fill in the blanks, so that is me holding the ornament/bomb (really it was one of Evy's toys). Oh and the guy on the rock is wearing my shoes since his feet were cut off in the original picture.

They provided 7-8 stock pictures. We had to at least use one of them as a main focus of our entry. here are the four I used in there original state.

I took this shot of Evinn while I was setting up for a portrait of some people in our ward. She is starting to stand up on her own and is getting close to balancing by herself. Although knowing her, she'll learn how to do it and then take 4 months to WANT to do it.

The Plentiful Gifts of Doug

Okay, so most of you know how amazing my husband is at, well just about every thing. He decides to try something and finds out that he's a natural. Of course when he is interested in something he immerses himself in it. Around the time Evy was born Doug decided to learn about photography. Of course he picked it up right away. He has been practicing and growing in his knowledge and ability. These pictures are just a few amazing photos out of his portfolio. I felt that it was my obligation as his wife to show off his great work! I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.

The three pictures here are photos that Doug compiled to present the image that you see. In the ally way picture Doug took 6 different photos and combined them. He also added in a few things like the light over the door and the light reflecting down from it. Its amazing to watch him put it all together. Its hard to understand just how much goes into it without seeing the process for yourself.

Doug has had great luck finding models that are willing to pose for an exchange of services. Although I think that they definitely get the better end of the bargain. The girl above is Danny. She has worked with Doug several different times and wants to continue working with him. She loves his photography and his ideas for photos. Its quite a compliment for Doug because Danny has worked with a lot of photographers and of all of them Doug is someone she continues to seek out.
Doug has done a few photos for family as well. Doug loves taking pictures of family and processing them.
As I said before these are just a few of Doug's pictures. He has had the great fortune to have a few paying jobs. He took photos for the local dance troop in town. He also took the photos for the Miss Tintic Pageant this last August. He has been fortunate enough to also have a few families contact him for family portraits. Its awesome to watch him progress and fall even further in love with what he is doing. I am so grateful for my hubby and all that he does for us as a family. I hope he truly knows how amazing he really is. I love you Doug!

Let Them Eat Cake!

These pictures somehow got out of order and I didn't want to take the time to figure it out. We had a lot of babies close to the same age at Evinn's birthday party. It was awesome! These are most of the babies. Only Evy and Gen are missing. We had a great time! The twins are our next door neighbors. Their names are Ella and Ellie ( I think those are their names). The blond beauty is Lanea. Hiding in the back is Clair, Evinn's cousin. Sally was kind enough to sit with them all for a while. Looks like fun!
Yep she's really one! Can you believe it! What a great pose to get at her first birthday party!
On the 23rd we celebrated Evinn's 1st birthday! Her actual birthday is on the 21st but we needed a weekend so that we could celebrate with our friends! Now I know that she won't remember this party, but it was really about us as her parents celebrating the fact that she's with us and that we made it a whole year without someone dying or being taken out! :)

I think that Evy had a great time! I had to get this red crown it was too cute to pass up! She took her role as princes very seriously and made sure that she was heard! She loved the food and being outside with other kids!

Evy was lucky to get lots of presents! Of course she had no idea what to do with the wrapped presents. We had a few kids there help open the presents. They were only too wiling to help! In the picture above you can see two of the little helpers Aiden and Isabel! We were grateful for all of their help and excitement!
We were lucky to have so many of our friends and family there at the party! Several young toddlers and babies were there and it was nice to see them all enjoy themselves. When a new toy was opened and Evinn let go of the "old" toy the other babies were only to happy to give all the toys a try. The giraffe above was one of my favorite gifts to give Evy and yet she plays with it the least! Go figure, she already has a mind of her own.

We had to get her this puppet! She loves it and even now will say hi when she see it and will pick it up for a huge bear hug!
Then there was cake! Obviously the event that all were waiting for. Notice the clothes have been stripped! The table cleared! Now its time!

She wasn't so sure at first that she liked being covered in frosting. She kept flinging her hands trying to make the frosting come off. It was great to watch her! She decided that it wasn't so bad after a while though.

Even her foot was in on the action! At one point she put her entire leg on top of the cake!

After she decided she was done we wrapped her in a plastic table cloth and Sally and her sister in-law Steph were kind enough to take her home and clean her up while we cleaned up the rest of the party.
All in all I think the party was a hit. We loved watching Evinn experience new things. Thank you everyone who came and celebrated with us. We are so blessed to have close family and great friends! Now we can look forward too next year! Although I try not to think of it too much!

I just couldn't help putting this picture up. Evy just looks so perfect, she's even holding her little cuddle bunny!

This picture properly illustrates just how messy Evy already is. Her favorite thing to do is to spill all the toys out of the toy basket. Then she proceeds to scatter them all around the room. The blanket is in on all the mess because Evy loves soft things and always pulls that blanket off of the couch whenever she finds it.

This picture came about because of a staring contest that Evy and her Aunt Di were having! Evy was definitely winning!

The 4th of July

Evy was so great! She wasn't scared of the loud sounds at all! She actually kept trying to grab the fire works. She loved them!!

My parents and my sister's family were able to be with us on this great holiday. We had so much fun! It was hard to say good bye when everyone had to leave.

The light show that we went to was in Nephi and I have to say that it was one of the best shows I've ever seen! Obviously Doug got some great pictures of it all!

Okay everyone, so we haven't been the best at up dating our blog. Doug and I realized that we had so many pictures that we wanted to share and they just kept piling up. So we finally got our act together and got some new postings up. We thought it would be a great time since our baby is going to be one tomorrow. I don't know why, but I'm finding it a little hard to deal with. Every time I think about it I get all emotional. We had to wait for what seemed like an eternity for this beautiful little girl that has totally taken over our entire world. Now I feel like our time with her is being stolen away too fast. Every time I turn around she's grow just a little more. Its not really fair!! I know I sound a little absurd and all, but tomorrow she'll be one and next year she'll be in high school. If I don't pay close attention one day she'll be leaving and making me a Grandma!!! I'm not ready for all that. I just want to hold her while she's still tiny. I want to rock her to sleep. I want to be the one who gets to hug her and kiss her whenever I want. I want to change her diapers and smell her beautiful baby smell!! No matter how much I cry and complain though, she will grow up, and someday she will out grow me. So I guess all I can do is enjoy it while I can and prepare for the not to far future. I love that little hot tempered girl with all my heart. Who knew that one little person with my mouth and Doug's eyes could solve so much of my unfulfilled emotions!! I love you baby and I always will! Happy first birthday!!

Evy's Many Hats

We recently were at Di and JD's for Aaron's blessing and Logan's fifth birthday. This hat was one of Logie's presents and of course we couldn't pass up a shot of Evy in it. So here's our little cow girl!!

Day At The Park

SUPERLOGAN!!!

Di, JD and the boys were up here visiting a couple of weeks ago. While they were here, Logan wanted to get his picture taken as SUPERMAN. I couldn't pass up the chance to get some shots. This poster is what has come of those pictures (so far).

The Coolest thing about this picture is that it was all Logan's idea. Dianna and I were taking shots of him just opening his shirt to revel the SUPERMAN logo underneath. Without notice Logan started running towards me. Thinking he was done, I asked him to hold on so I could get a couple more shots. He turned around, sad and with his head down, not wanting to face the camera. Dianna asked him what was wrong and he said "Superman is supposed to run when he is changing". Smiling we agreed and said he could run towards the camera when i took the next couple of shots. The best one (this one) turned out the be the very first shot of him running.

Oh what fun.

Cutest Baby In The World!

Hey Guys this is Anna and it is my first time so be easy on me. :)

We got this out fit for Evy for Christmas and it quickly became one of our favorites.

Evinn's only real trick so far is sitting without trouble. She can roll over but refuses. She hates being on her tummy.

Her "personality" is really starting to show. I think she's a lot like her Daddy! :)

Hello everyone, sorry I haven't posted in over a month. I've been very busy lately trying to build a portfolio for my photography. things are really starting to pick up and I feel that I am getting close to the point that I will finally try and get paid for the photos I take (I Hope). Anna has been added to the blog so she can do posts, but we haven't taken the time to run her through the process yet. We are both hoping that she will be more consistent then I have been.

We have also finally started putting some of our video on our computer, so expect to see a video post or two in the near future.

We just recently started Evinn on cereal and baby food. She is loving it. It's so fun to watch her get mad when we can't get the food in her mouth fast enough and then squeal, get excited, or give a little laugh when the spoon starts heading towards he mouth.

She is also wanting to try everything we are eating.

Another Music Post

The other day Anna heard a snippet of a song that she thought included Alison Krauss. She really liked it so she asked if I could help her find it. I was also interested in listening to the CD she did with Robert Plant (of Led Zepplin) so we decided to start with that one and listened to the samples on itunes. We found the one she was looking for (killing the blues) but both really got attached to one called "Gone Gone Gone". It's a cover of an old Everly Brothers song that just fits theirs voices perfectly. You can check out the video below.

The CD is an interesting mix between country and classic rock. It's a little different but worth checking out.

Evy in pink

Through some gentle prodding (thanks Lonna) I finally got my camera back out and took some pictures. I made something called a ringlight that I used on this picture. It surrounds the lens in a "ring" of light, taking away most of the harsh shadows. I think is came out pretty well... plus Evy makes quite a good model.

If you look at the large version of the picture, you can see me reflected in her eyes.

The internets can be used for good (yes internets was on purpose)! I have been looking for this song for a while, heard it on a JC Penney ad and thought i'd look it up on youtube.

Not sure who put together the video, but thought some of you might enjoy the song. It's a Christmas one so it is a bit late, but still...

It's by a band called the Weepies and it is called "all that i want".

I've been on a huge singer/songwriter kick for the past couple of years and can't get over what some people can do with little more than a guitar/piano and a voice.

Over the Thanksgiving weekend Anna and I got a few early Christmas presents for ourselves. One of mine was a reflective umbrella for photography. Right before they were supposed to go to bed one night, I convinced Parker and Logan to let me take some pictures of them (I haven't worked on Logan's pic yet, it will come soon hopefully). Of course it meant a little more time that they could stay awake so they agreed. This is one of my favorites.

Even though Lonna advises against it (see the "Dog Tired" Post) I will admit I did some photoshop work on this, but the lighting was all done in "real life".

I've been TAGGED!!!

When I first saw that I had been tagged by Aunt Sylvia, I immediately thought of it as a term for graffiti. The thought of my aunt Sylvia "tagging" a wall jumped into my head, but since I don't have a picture to convey that, I thought I'd show you the aftermath. It looks like a couple cans of spray paint (and a couple hours training on Wii boxing) is all it takes for Sylvia to "Rain down the PAIN".

So here are my seven facts.

1. Unlike Ryan (see his response on Leslie's blog) I can't get enough of the "get to know you" e-mails, as I'm sure most of you know. I think it is because it is so much easier to be myself when I don't have to worry about seeing the response people have to what I say. I can pretend that most of you laugh (or at least smile) at my idiotic ramblings and all is fine in (my) the world.

2. I now come in 2-ply.

3. I'm a big movie buff. I see way too many movies and Anna gets dragged along to a lot that she doesn't really care for. Although we are going quite a bit less now that Evinn is here. I think it's a fair trade.

4. I can't touch my toes. I've never been able to. I can touch my nose, but it doesn't seem like that big of an accomplishment.

5. I wear glasses, but only for work. I think I look silly in them so I make sure to take them off when people come to talk to me at my desk.

6. I had kidney stones a couple of years ago, so I always keep a half gallon jug of water at my desk that I have to finish each day. I never... NEVER want to feel that pain again. Getting up from my desk every 30 minutes for "breaks" is no picnic either, but at least it doesn't hurt.

7. I spent way to much time on the picture that accompanies this post (but from a design standpoint, not enough). But since I don't design much at my job anymore, it was a fun way to keep up on my skills... or lack there of.

For about 2-3 weeks Evinn has been responding to us more and more. She smiles a lot when we talk to her now and we can actively see her studying us or anything else that catches her focus.

Anna caught her in a very happy mood the other day. Here are a couple of the shots she was able to get. I like the "got your nose" gesture she is making in the second pic.

Kevin has always been fun for me to photograph. He is so willing to just make new faces and subtle changes in his poses, that I always end up with something good (those of you who saw it know that he was the subject of the only post on my last blog attempt).

Evinn's Blessing Dress

OK, OK, I know I've been slacking. I've been getting a bunch of pictures ready to put up so here is the first of (hopefully) several new posts this week.

Anna's Mother was nice enough to take the time to make Evinn's blessing dress and we have to say, it came out wonderful. We waited a week or so after the blessing to get some shots of the dress, because on the day of the blessing she was just big enough to fit into it.

Anna wanted me to mention that the material for Evinn's dress came from her (Anna's) wedding dress. She's been so excited to be able to reuse her dress and get a bit more use out of it. If I remember right we have enough material to do another one if needed.

Anna has noticed that every day at about the same time, the light comes through our living room window very nicely. So, she thought she'd pick up the camera (I usually don't let it go) and try her hand at taking pictures. I have to say I think she did a great job. She did something I haven't been able to do, get Evinn smiling. I love how dramatic the lighting is.

Dog Tired

I think I'm gonna have a new favorite picture every week. Anna and I love how long her arm looks and her little tongue sticking out. I did a little photoshop work on this to bring out some detail and contrast while at the same time softening skin tones. I think it came out nice, almost like a painting.

Finally found time to get a new set of pics up. Most of the time, all Evinn does is sleep, so here are a couple shots of her favorite pastime (even though on the second pic she decided to open her eyes).

Anna and I can't stop laughing at this picture. She wasn't crying or upset at all. She just finished feeding and scrunched up her face for no reason. So we've been having fun trying to come up with tag-lines for this picture. Since you can see the milk in her mouth Anna's favorite is "Eww this milk is sour" and I like "You mean I'm gonna look like him".

To hopefully stimulate some comments I'm issuing a challenge. Anyone who reads this, come up with your own tag-line for this image and post a comment about it. For those of you who aren't sure how to do this, just hit the "comments" link at the bottom of this post. I assure you it's quite harmless and I'm sure anyone with a blog will agree, comments are VERY, VERY welcome.

Now, Everyone with a blog, come on. We can do better. We all know that everyone checks all the blogs a lot (I do almost every day). but I rarely post comments. We wouldn't be checking the blogs as much as we do if we didn't care. So lets show we do. I'm sure you're like me, it's a lot easier to do a new post when you've gotten feedback on earlier posts.

Finally, if you don't have a blog "get with the now" and do one. it's so easy even Dianna can do it (I know she'll know I'm joking...I hope).

Anna has been kind enough to be my Guinea Pig for several "photo shoots" as I am trying to get a handle on this photography thing. She is especially kind since she still thinks that pictures can "capture her soul", but since I live with her she's not worried about me running off and selling it. (Don't worry she has gotten used to "dealing" with me on a daily basis. By "dealing" I mean "beating"....severely.)

So the other night we (I) decided it would be fun to go to a park and try and take some pictures. I think we were really starting to get close to some very good shots, but baby was having a hard time, so we ended up cutting our trip short. this is one of my favorites from that set of pics.

Chocolate (rain) mustache

Hello everyone. Finally got around to doing a blog again. here are a couple of pics of our little one. More one the way soon (these were the only ones I had at work)

Parker couldn't wait to hold little Evinn. When he was told that we had her you could hear the excitement in his voice. I have others where he is kissing her head but I thought this showed a bit more of his personalty.

Notice the chocolate (rain) mustache he has. Then check out the video below to see why I put (Rain) after chocolate. If you haven't heard it, be prepared to have it stuck in your head all day and if you have heard it, be prepared to have it stuck in your head all day...again!

P.S. You don't have to listen to all of it (i don't think it is humanly possible) a minute or two will suffice. Just hearing the word "chocolate" is going to make you sing this song for weeks to come.

It's funny how Evinn is already tired of me taking pictures. After she put up her hand to stop me from taking her picture, she threw her phone at me, broke my camera, and called me a "stalker". Kids these days.

Maybe she got mad at me because I took this picture. Nobody likes being caught mid sneeze. Good thing she doesn't have a cold or this picture could have been a lot worse.
